Caerlaverock Castle, Scotland

Caerlaverock Castle, Dumfries, Scotland

Caerlaverock Castle is one of the Scotland's great medieval fortresses. For 400 years ( 13th-17th Century ) it stood on the very edge of the kingdom.
Caerlaverock's triangular shape is unique among British Castles. Why it was built this way is not known.
